Villex opinion on latest patchs

5.30 introduced two new pieces of gear into the game. Many players are wondering how and if at all these items will change the metagame. We asked our team captain Villex to provide his expert opinion on these changes! There are three important changes we will discuss here: The Rift-To-Go, changes to shotguns and a Clinger buff.

Rift-To-Go

is a portable Rift that can be carried in inventory and deployed immediately. According to Villex the Rift-To-Go will not change the way teams position themselves. The Rift-To-Go seems to be developed more towards duo and squad play and less for solo play. Positional advantage seems to matter much more in larger teams. One of the most important uses for this item will be retaking highground, making it much more important in the late game.

The two changes to shotguns:

Pump Shotgun equip time has been shortened from 0.96 seconds to 0.88 seconds.
Double Barrel shotgun now has a spread reduction of 15% while crouched.

Changes to the Shotguns will not impact the game too much. Pump has been viable after the nerfs but the change is too small to make it a favorite weapon for many players. The Double Barrel shotgun change will not be enough to make it viable.

Clingers

They will no longer explode if the object they are attached to is destroyed. According to Villex, Clingers will now be useful if you have the highground against a turtle base. Dropping Clingers and spamming down the roof can be a viable strategy to force out an opponent.

Shockwave grenade

It is a bit too early to accurately judge its power but so far Shockwave feels more like a gimmick than a reliable tool. Knockback effects are too situational in most scenarios, but you can easily see it in action in this amazing Magin Clutch.
